Hello, we are integrating the UM-1080c-OF in our new product. From our stand point we were OK with plugging in the provided USB Y adapter from display to motherboard. (single display only and using touchscreen function) We were asked by our 3rd party vendor about Displaylink. below is their comment.
"I understand that this display uses a DisplayLink interface. For an open frame display, our partners do not have a board to accept this interface . Do you have any flexibility in the I/O aside from DisplayLink?"
we are using a standard motherboard with 4x USB2 ports and don't understand the concern from our vendor. Do you have any thoughts on this, Is there anything specific with Displaylink that we aren't considering.
I was also asked internally if we actually needed to use the Y adapter or if we could use a standard USB cable.
Any info you could provide would be helpful.

David,
Thank you for your question here.
Displaylink is just a software that communicates to the OS that the USB input device is a display and not a USB keyboard or mouse. As the UM-1080C-OF is HID compliant within windows, Windows first thought is to identify that as a mouse. (This can be shown when the monitor is first plugged in and there are no Displaylink adapters installed, the touch inputs cam still be witnessed on the primary display.)
The UM-1080C-OF is a single USB connection that provide videos power an touch. What I am understanding is that the 3rd Party Vendor is stating that their board does not have USB inputs or is unable to install displaylink. Is this correct?
They need to have some sort of USB plug to supply the power and touch input, but the UM-1080CH-OF is a HDMI monitor that does not require the displaylink 3rd party software.
Look forward getting you any information you need from Mimo.
